Governance structures

The OIC continued to integrate GBA+ considerations in all funding requests.

Governance of the OIC’s GBA+ approach and activities is prepared by the OIC’s program (investigations and policy and research groups) and shared with the Deputy Commissioner, Corporate Services, Strategic Planning and Transformation Services. The Audit and Evaluation Committee is briefed at least annually.

Reporting capacity and data

The OIC will continue to collect administrative data on all its investigations, to ensure it can respond quickly and effectively to delays in completing investigations and serving all requesters.

The OIC also seeks to determine how to collect disaggregated data on complaints from members of the GBA+ groups to assess how service levels for those groups compare to that for the overall population, based on turnaround times for investigations. This assessment would shed light on whether the OIC’s program contains any barriers to access, however unintentional.

The OIC is assessing how best to collect this disaggregated data. Various options on point(s) and methods of collection have been submitted to OIC management for consideration. However, the OIC is currently evaluating its processes and performance measures, and carrying out a major IT systems migration.
