Submit a complaint

The Office of the Information Commissioner has taken measures to follow the recommendations of public health officials to keep its employees safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic and is currently operating under alternative work arrangements until further notice.

We presently have very limited access to complaints received by mail. In order to ensure the most efficient processing of your complaint, we strongly encourage the electronic filing of complaints, through our online complaint form. The OIC remains focused on upholding the requirements of the Access to Information Act and will continue to exercise its mandate, accepting and processing all complaints.

Speaking invitations

If you would like the Information Commissioner of Canada to participate in your event, send your invitation to with the following information:

  1. the name, date, location and purpose of your event
  2. the topic you would like addressed
  3. the expected number of attendees and the composition of the audience (for example, federal public servants, access experts, lawyers, academics, students, etc.)
  4. the name of the organizer(s) and their contact information
