Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada launches new website!
Ottawa - March 1, 2010
In response to the evolving online needs of Canadians, I am proud to announce that the Office of the Information Commissioner of Canada (OIC) is launching a new website today (http://www.oic-ci.gc.ca/).
The new website hosts a variety of speeches, reports, publications and statistics. New features also include:
- searchable summaries of noteworthy court cases under the Access to Information Act
- summaries of notable investigations that the Commissioner has conducted over the years
As an additional resource, users can view a variety of podcasts that discuss access to information topics. These podcasts feature speeches and seminars that provide invaluable insight into the world of access to information on both a national and international level.
Learn More about OIC
The new Reading Room section will proactively feature summaries of OIC policies, activities, consultations and other documents that are of interest to Canadians. As of April 2010, the Reading Room will also include a list of completed access to information requests submitted to the OIC.
Lodging an Access to Information Complaint
The OIC is committed to making the complaint submission process as easy as possible. Our website features a newly-designed complaint form that users can download directly. Along with this form, we have included clear, step-by-step instructions for completing and mailing the complaint to the appropriate location.
Future Web 2.0 Functionality
To improve online dialogue between the OIC and its users, plans are under way to incorporate additional Web 2.0 technology (such as blogging). The new website is web-ready for the arrival of these highly anticipated developments in the near future!
In an increasingly complex world of access to information, these website initiatives represent the OIC’s dedication to providing Canadians with the most accessible and transparent service possible.
