Extension Notice Reports
The Access to Information Act (the Act) allows government institutions to extend the time limit to complete the processing of a request in specific and limited circumstances and for a reasonable period of time.
Subsection 9(2) of the Act requires that the government institution notify the OIC at the same time that the notice is given to the requester when extending the time limit for more than 30 days under subsection 9(1) of the Act.
The following statistical charts report the extensions that were received by the OIC for specified time periods.
